Learning Objectives
Asset management as a business discipline is relevant to all asset types, however the uniqueness of the services and assets associated with buildings and property, means that there are differences in how these principles are best applied.
This course provides participants with an overview of asset management as a business process. The presenter draws on 20 years of industry experience and learning, to explore in detail several asset management planning processes, as they relate specifically to the management of building and property portfolios.
Content Covered
- Introduction to asset management as a business process, including IIMM and ISO 55000
- The linkages between asset management, the organisation’s objectives, and stakeholder expectations
- The management of information including asset data
- Condition and Performance grading of buildings
- Developing meaningful levels of service measures for property assets and services
- Forecasting and managing demand
- Developing a long-term renewals forecasts
This course is a mixture of presentations and interactive workshops. Examples of property management practices will be reviewed and discussed.
Intended Audience
This course provides valuable asset management skills to anyone involved in the planning, management and/or operation of buildings and property, in the public and private sectors. This includes portfolio managers, asset managers, space planners, facility managers, project managers and service delivery staff.
